Kalis Development Corporation Announces a Habitat for Humanity ReStore will open at Warrenton’s Warrenton Towne Centre
McLean, Virginia, Friday, March 23, 2012 – Today, Nicholas Kalis announced Fauquier Habitat for Humanity has leased 15,922 square feet in Warrenton’s Warrenton Towne Centre. Landlord was represented by Gwen Edwards of Renaud Consulting. This space was originally a Grand Home Furnishings which was divided and leased in part to Tuesday Morning.
Fauquier Habitat for Humanity (FHFH), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, was founded in 1991. They serve the Fauquier and Rappahannock County communities. They work closely with community churches, businesses, volunteers and families to eliminate the blight of poverty housing: leaky roofs, lack of indoor plumbing, kitchen or bath facilities, no source of heat, and other unsafe or unsanitary conditions.
Since their founding, they have built more than 44 homes for deserving, qualified homeowners, and rehabilitated several more.
Habitat’s ReStore resale outlets sell reusable and surplus building materials to the public. While every ReStore outlet is a little different, most focus on home improvement goods like furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances. ReStore resale outlets accept donated goods which are sold to the general public at a fraction of the retail price. The proceeds help local Habitat affiliates fund the construction of Habitat homes within their communities.
ReStore resale outlets provide an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream while providing funding for Habitat’s community improvement work.
Warrenton Towne Centre is managed by Kalis Development Corporation www.kaliscompanies.com 703 585-0100 Facsimile 703 734-6801. Leasing is by Renaud Consulting 703 404-2346 www.renaudconsulting.net.

Lord Fairfax Community College Announces Les Nichols Scholarship Info & Deadline
From Cassandra Summer (family member) – Warrenton, VA March 22, 2012 - Thank you all so much for your support with the Les Nichols Scholarship (Les was a founding GWCC board member & friend to many in our community) at Lord Fairfax Community College. I wanted to take a moment to update everyone with more details about the scholarship fund.
It is truly amazing to think about all the generosity and what this will mean to one student each year. One LFCC student will be selected annually and awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The award will be split between the fall and spring semesters. This means with the scholarship at over $6,000, we will be able to help students for at least 6 years!
We also wanted to get the word out to anyone who doesn’t already know about the scholarship fund. It’s on a rolling basis, which means anyone can
donate at any time during which the scholarship is in use (for at least the next 6+ years). Our hope is that contributions will continue to be made and the scholarship can live on forever.
If you know any rising seniors or current LFCC student that may be interested in applying to this scholarship- the deadline is April 1 for the next school year. The applicant must meet the following requirements:
• be enrolled at LFCC’s Fauquier Campus in Warrenton
• have dedicated at least 25 hours to community service or environmental sustainability over the past year
• be working while attending school
• maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA

You may also send a check made to the “LFCC Foundation” with “Les Nichols” in the memo line to:
