Steven G. Cosby, MHSA, President & CEO of Cosby Insurance Group on 04.19.2010 attended the 4th annual Bernard and Irene Schwartz Lecture on Congress held at the beautiful and historic Library of Congress in Washington D.C. This year’s lecture examined the motivations, policies and strategies employed to move the health care bill through Congress and to the President’s desk for signature. An expert panel discussed the role of the major players, the meaning of this legislation for our country, and the impact it will have on the American people. Panel will included: Moderator: Ceci Connelly, National Staff Writer at the Washington Post and Freelance Journalist; Ellen-Marie Whelan, Associate Director of Health Policy and Senior Health Policy Analyst at Center for American Progress; Charlie Kolb, President of the Committee for Economic Development; Kavita Patel, recently the Director of Policy for the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs and former Deputy Staff Director for the Senate HELP Committee under Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Immediately following the panel, Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut offered his insights on the historic nature of both the policy and process of the health care reform movement.
